The venue is a former Methodist chapel, completed in 1910.
The Methodists sold the building in the early 1990s and it was used for a short while as artists’ workshops, under the name of Harmony Hall.
In 1998, it was purchased by Peterloo Poets who, with financial help from the Arts Council and the National Lottery Fund, converted it into a beautiful performance space. Peterloo Poets championed lesser known poets and held a number of literary and music events
In 2010, Calstock Arts Community Interest Company purchased The Old Chapel from the Trustees of Peterloo Poets, with the intention of continuing such events and expanding as an arts centre.
